Case Study

Introduction of Program:
The program “lively hood Support & Promotion of Small Community Infrastructure Project” (LACIP) is CO -Financed by the federal Republic of Germany through KfW. The total project cost is 31.5 Million Euros and executed by Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) from April 2012 to December 2015. LACIP targets 127 Union Councils in target 7 District of Khyber Pakhtun Khwa.

Background and identification:
Village Tarkha Banda is situated in union council Sard Cheena Tehsil
Razzar, District Swabi. Tarkha Banda consists of 80 households and population 560, there are many problems in the village according to infrastructure; the main problem was the sanitation (street pavement and side drain. Streets were very in bad condition which was not feasible for transportation and also for pedestrians, especially for children and aged peoples during rain.

Process:
Community Physical Infrastructure is a major component under the BMZ funded project LACIP (Livelihood Support and promotion of Small Community Infrastructure Project) through KfW that is implemented by PPAF
through partner Organization Salik Development Foundation is a Partner Organization of PPAF. Salik foundation has been formed a Community Organization in said village on the name of CO Qadam Ba Qadam in 2012.
A jarga came to the SDF office and discussed the sanitation problems to support the village according to infrastructures activities. Technical staff visited the said village checked the feasibility and surveyed for the sanitation scheme with the help of co members and villagers also. After the completion of paper work the community and villagers implement the sanitation scheme through technical support of Engineers and social organizers of Salik Development Foundation.

Implementation and Impact:
As a result the sanitation work completed through which global change come in the Tarkha banda village .streets and drains were paved the solid waste finished from the village.
Prosperity comes in the village. The community facilitated by good transportation especially children and aged peoples, now they are moving very easily in the streets especially in rainy season and continuous their daily routine activities especially formers facilitated through paved streets because they are using the said streets for the agriculture purposes.
